The Plan of Ayala

25 Anniversary of  the Plan of Ayala, 1935
The stamp was issued in 1935 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Plan of Ayala.
In 1911, Francisco I. Madero became president of Mexico after Porfirio Diaz's seven presidency terms (1876-1911). As the political leader of the Revolution, Madero betrayed the revolutionary philosophy of Emiliano Zapata, so the later proclaimed the Plan of Ayala, a document in which was drafted the spirit and ideals of the zapatismo. The Plan had the following points:
  1. Madero has betrayed the revolution, he kept the same agrarian policies as Porfirio Diaz. Madero just wanted the presidency out of power thirst.
  2. Madero is not the president anymore, his presidency will be overthrown.
  3. Pascual Orozco is offered the leadership of the Revolution. If he does not accept the leadership, Zapata will be the leader.
  4. The following points will be added to the Plan of San Luis and they will be defended until victory or death.
  5. The Revolution will not be over until Madero and the rest of Diaz officials are overthrown.
  6. The land and property taken away from the people will be return to them.
  7. Land and property monopolies will be disolved and the land and property will be distributed to the poorest people.
  8. The owners who do not handover the land of their monopolies will be left with less land.
  9. In support of the previous two points, the land and property of monopolies will be officially nationalised.
  10. Those who do not support this Plan will be considered traitors.
  11. The war expenses will be cover according to the Plan of San Luis.
  12. After the victory of this movement, a temporary president elected by the movement, will run elections.
  13. The same will happen in each state to elect a governor.
  14. If Madero and his officials do not resign from office they will be killed.
  15. We call to all Mexicans to rise up against Madero, a traitor.

Eagle Knigth

Emisión 1934

This is a Mexican perforated airmail stamp issued in 1934 by the "Oficina Impresora de Hacienda". The stamp shows a finely engraved composition of images: on the right side, it depicts an Eagle Knight looking at the horizon. The Eagle Knights were one the two military orders of the Aztecs, the other one being the Jaguar Knights. In the centre of the stamp, we find what seems to be the Popocatepetl (Popo) volcano, the second highest volcano in México, this volcano can be seen from Mexico City. Below the pick of the Popo there is an eagle ready to fly. And at the left side of the stamp there are some cactuses, they resemble saguaro cactuses which are native to the Sonora desert. All the images are icons of the Mexican culture and its natural landscapes. The value of the stamp is 20 cents.
