This issue of stamps depicts the coat of arms of the Historic Provinces of Sweden (Sveriges landskap). There are twenty five historic provinces in Sweden, these provinces don't function as administrative territories anymore but they are recognised as areas of distinctive culture and history. Apparently, the coat of arms of the provinces appeared for the very first time at the funeral of the Swedish king Gustav I who fought agains the Danish. I've got only fifteen stamps of this issue, I reckon there should be one stamp for each province. They are perforated stamps issued by private post between 1981-1986?, their value ranges from 1.40kr to 1.90kr. On the frame of the stamp, at the bottom left corner and bottom right corner, one can read the name of the province and the year respectively. The designs of the coat of arms are quite delicate and detailed, the animals and objects are very well depicted. The shine of the golden and silver colours makes some stamps quite special, for example those from Värmland, Smaland, Skane and Angermanland.
